Katie Laverty: "I’m really proud of where I find myself professionally."
Our new Account Manager on her two pet peeves, her guiltiest pleasure & what always makes her smile.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I always thought of myself wanting to be a teacher. As a child I would have always asked for ‘supplies’ at my birthday etc - including a whiteboard & teacher stamps.
What is your earliest childhood memory?
My first biggest memory would be being over in Florida with my family, particularly being in a water park with my grandparents and how funny they found going down all the water rafts!
Favourite place to visit?
Definitely Florida! Meshing in with my earliest childhood memories, my family and I have been so lucky to get over to Florida really often and it is somewhere I know I will always go back to.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I hope to have bought my first house after having done a lot more travelling than any of us have got lately. Still working away and learning in my job with people I enjoy working with
Most overused word or phrase
I actually cannot think of any, but I would say ‘literally’ and ‘for sure’ is in there quite a lot.
What do you consider your greatest achievement to date?
I’m really proud of where I find myself professionally. I chose to go a different route to most people I knew in my age group & I think where I have worked to today proves to have been the right choice for me.
What always makes you smile?
My niece & nephew can pretty much win me over for anything so definitely them two.
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
I do indulge a bit too much in reality shows - could definitely binge a full season of real estate TV in a day.
Favourite hobby/pastime?
I’ve always loved swimming, started at a very young age and done all the competitions etc which then carried onto teaching others but now just do it for fun in my own time.
List two pet peeves
I’m a pretty impatient driver/walker - so any slow drivers or walkers would probably be my top two pet peeves.
What movie/series would you watch again in a heartbeat?
Definitely friends - as soon as I finish it, i just kick straight back into season 1 again.
Most valued item?
Family & my health!
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
I think I'd like to see the 70's/80’s time frame - I love the movies & music from then and so it would be fun to experience it at the time.
What is top of your bucket list?
So many places I want to travel to - but seeing NYC at christmas time is top of my list right now.
To the audience: Stories should be written to bring a wide diverse community together, helping to educate people on topics they maybe never would have known. I think our newspapers & websites have proven they know & continue to do just that, and it shows for being one of the read news platforms in NI!
