Aoife Carton: “Our audiences are at the heart of each and every one of our websites.”

Business Comms

Our Senior Account Manager in the Dublin team tells us about her new hobby, how she'd love to spend the day with Sir David Attenborough and what she’d do if she won the lottery.

What would your superpower be?

Ah I think it would have to be to be able to fly. Or to click my fingers and go anywhere.

Social media platform of choice?

I’d have to say Instagram – it’s great for fashion and home inspo but I’ve definitely made an effort not to be glued to my phone as much.

Someone you’d love to meet, living or dead?

I think I’d like to meet one of my ancestors – it would be interesting to know where I came from.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Definitely trash TV when I’m fragile after a night out!

What’s one of your favourite memories at Reach?

There are a lot but I think the quiz we hosted for the agencies in early 2020 stands out. It was just before lockdown kicked in and at the end of Dry January so everyone was in flying form. That and heading to Jazz Fest in Cork in 2019.

Nice car or nice home interior?

Since I’m stuck in my house most of the time, I’m going to go with a nice home. Although if you saw inside my car you might disagree.

Who is your hero?

Ah I would have to say my Dad, he’s a legend. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for us.

If you could spend the day with one famous person, who would it be?

I’d have to say David Attenborough.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Right now, I can’t think of anything nicer than lying on a sunny beach somewhere.

What could you not leave the house without?

Shoes are definitely necessary. And I suppose I can’t leave my daughter behind either!

Tell us about one of your hobbies or interests

I love hiking and try to go as often as possible. I started cross-stitching during lockdown (very cool, I know) but I still like doing that, it’s quite relaxing and stops the mindless scrolling that tends to happen in the evenings.

Favourite restaurant?

There are a few! I love Tapas de Lola, FX Buckley, The Port House, Pickle and Hang Dai.

Beer or Wine?

I love red wine, but it definitely doesn’t love me.

What was your favourite subject in school?

I loved History and English – I had great plans to teach both subjects. Never say never.

If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?

Ehhh botox, designer bags, a new house, a new car...the list goes on. Ah no, I’d like to think I would try to do something good with it. I’d also love to set up my own business with the money.

What is your favourite game or sport to watch and play?

GAA definitely – hurling or football. I used to play and was terrible, but I’m great at watching it now.

Most overused word or phrase

I actually can’t think of one. Oh, I can...it’s “actually.”

To the audience: You should make our news brands a part of your day because...
