Linda-Jane Doherty: ‘You're at the centre of everything we do & hope you keep coming back for more.’

Business Comms

Our Senior Marketing Exec on Alan Jackson being her guiltiest pleasure, her biggest life lesson and how Belfast Live’s Opening Eyes on Homelessness campaign is one of her greatest achievements at work.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

PE teacher...back in the days when I played every sport going.

Social media platform of choice?

Pinterest, I love looking for home inspiration. My husband hates to hear me say 'I saw this on Pinterest...do you think we could do that?' We're currently on mission garden transformation!

Favourite writer?

I do love a bit of Marian Keyes ...nice and light-hearted but I've just finished ‘My Lovely Wife’ by Samatha Downing and I would highly recommend it.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought (excluding property)?

Probably the watch I bought my husband as a wedding present. I think I really need to treat myself next 🤨

Most overused word or phrase?

Amelia stop doing that 🙈 They start to listen when they turn four, right?

What do you consider your greatest achievement to date?

Aside from my two girls, probably completing the Walled City Marathon in 2016. I never thought I would be able to do it, but just shows you what you can do when you put your mind to it. 26.2 miles of mental and physical torture but well worth it for the feeling after. Career-wise, raising £25K for a local homeless charity through our Opening Eyes on Homelessness campaign. Also surviving lockdown with a newborn and a 3-year-old has been a pretty good achievement.

Hidden talent?

Singing the wrong words to songs ...

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

A bit of Alan Jackson....instant mood booster.

Who is your celebrity crush?

This is an easy one. Colin Farrell. I met him twice when I worked for Aer Lingus. My (maiden) name was Farrell at the time and my favourite memory from meeting him was when he said to me... 'ah look your name is Farrell too, sure you wouldn't even have to change your name' (at that point I almost died and went to heaven). It was also Valentine's Day....like what are the chances?! Harvey Specter (the character) is up there too. What a man!

Biggest life lesson to date?

Have confidence in your own ability and stay true to yourself. Also family is everything...and should always come first.

What would your superpower be?

Some Mary Poppins magic...if that’s a superpower? Imagine being able to click your fingers and tidy the house or make the beds!

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

The Maldives on honeymoon... when the toughest decision we had to make every day was which cocktail to try first.

What is the worst job you’ve done?

When I lived in Australia I worked on a 25,000 acre farm in the outback to get a second-year visa. We were 4 hours from Perth, the closest city and to say it was bleak was an understatement.

What is top of your bucket list?

Back to the Maldives. Or Switzerland (very random) but look up Park Hotel Vitznau....thanks Instagram.

To the audience: You are at the centre of everything we do.....we hope that you keep coming back for more.
