Lauren Harte: “I would go back to secondary school to listen more and work a bit harder!”

Business Comms

The Belfast Live and Daily Mirror journalist on her biggest fear, someone she'd be starstruck to meet and the most favourite thing about her career.

The boss is buying you a drink, what are you having?

I’m a bit of a gin nerd and love trying out the latest offerings. I was drinking gin before it was cool and my friends always said it was an ‘old person’s drink’. They have since jumped on the gin bandwagon!

Currently reading?

A bit behind on this one but I’m reading Sally Rooney’s Conversations with Friends at the moment before I delve into her new release, Beautiful World, Where Are You.

On holidays do you prefer the pool or the beach?

I’m not much of a swimmer so this is a tricky question. The beach is hard to beat though and even in all weathers!

Someone you might be starstruck to meet?

I had to think about this one for a while because there are definitely lots of people on the list but probably Graham Norton, Nigella Lawson or Marian Keyes. I have been to a few of their book signings and was definitely starstruck each time.

What’s your biggest fear?

Uncertainty.

Hotel or camping?

Hotel and the more stars the better!

Favourite band/singer?

Controversial I know but growing up I was always a Take That girl!

What is your favourite thing about your career?

The fact that no two days are the same and the opportunities to meet new people from all walks of life.

Big City or small island?

Love the buzz of a big city.

Biggest life lesson to date?

Good things don't come easy.

Favourite blogger/influencer?

Gemma-Louise Bond aka ThatBelfastGirl because she’s honest, uplifting and full of great fashion tips and finds.

Train or plane?

I love both but jumping on a plane to far away places after two years of being stuck on Irish soil is something I can’t wait to do again post-Covid.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

I would go back to secondary school to listen more and work a bit harder!

What is the worst job you’ve done?

Well I’ve only ever been a journalist or a waitress so I guess it would have to be the waitressing. I’m sure my former bosses would agree that I wasn’t always the best!

Anything Netflix/Amazon Prime that you would recommend?

If you haven’t seen The Crown yet I would give it a go. Also obsessed with Ratched and The Queen's Gambit.

Heels or flats?

These days it’s flats - trainers with dresses.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought (excluding property)

I’ve recently bought my first home but since I can’t say that then I guess it’s my car, followed by holidays.

What is a question that you like to ask people?

Tell me about yourself.

Dress up or casual?

Any excuse to dress up after more than a year of being forced to be casual!

To the audience: You should make Belfast Live a part of your day because…it’s your one stop shop for all the latest breaking news, sport and entertainment. Why would you want to go anywhere else?!
