Business Comms

Our Marketing Assistant on her addiction to TikTok, her favourite blogger/influencer, dealing with imposter syndrome and her favourites of 2021 so far.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I was obsessed with animals growing up and I wanted to be a zoologist, then I realised I’d have to study science and that went out the window pretty quickly.

Social media platform of choice?

Has to be TikTok - even if the songs are stuck in my head constantly!

Favourite writer?

Oh hard to pick just one but I have been making my way through all of Giovanna Fletcher’s books and loving them.

Someone you might be starstruck to meet?

Meryl Streep.

What do you consider your greatest achievement to date?

I think getting my dream internship in Communications at The Walt Disney Company and moving to London for a year when I was 20 was a pretty great achievement - I had only been to London once before moving so it was a pretty nerve racking experience!

Hidden talent?

I’d probably say surfing although I don’t think it counts as ‘hidden’ if I bring it up any chance I get.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Musicals - I can’t wait to get back into a theatre and see one live.

Biggest life lesson to date?

To have confidence in my ability and knowledge. Imposter syndrome is a b*tch!

If I wasn’t a Marketing Assistant, I would be…

A surf instructor - did I mention I surf??

Favourite blogger/influencer?

I’d have to say Orlagh Claire, I started reading her blog when I was in uni and she has some really good advice on working in PR and Marketing!

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

I’d go back and tell my 18 year old self not to give up studying languages. I studied French and Irish until A Level and now I can just about remember merci and go raibh maith agat!

What is the worst job you’ve done?

Definitely working at a fudge stall at the Christmas Market in Belfast - it was FREEZING.

Song you last listened to?

I’ve pretty much had Olivia Rodrigo’s new album SOUR on repeat the past few days.

Most overused word or phrase?

I asked my friend this and she said it would be ‘I saw this TikTok…’ maybe I am a bit too addicted...

What is top of your bucket list?

Travelling - honestly anywhere at this stage but I would also love to live in another city at some point.

Favourites of 2021 so far...

Buying my first home has been the best (and probably most stressful) experience but that first drink back in a pub was a close second.
